The County participates in "Active Volunteers in Douglas" (AVID), a group formed to promote, maintain and support volunteerism in all county communities and to provide avenues for recognition and encouragement of volunteers. Volunteers needed at the Carson Valley Arts Council to fill the following positions
-Volunteer Coordinator
-Office Assistant in the Arts Council Bldg on Tue/Wed from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm, and to fill in for the executive director when needed.
-Laborer to do chores around the building (change light bulbs, fix windows, repair doorknobs, move furniture, etc…)

Educational Director needed
The Douglas County Historical Society is searching for an Educational Director to perform duties obtaining and recording oral histories (in writing and via audio) from ranchers and business families integral to the history of the Carson Valley. Requires approximately 10-12 hours service per month.

ESL Tutors Needed
ESL (English as a Second Language) Program needs volunteer tutors to teach English as a second language to adult students. ESL volunteers must be 18 years of age or older, and willing to perform 1-2 hours of service per week. Training and instructional materials are provided at no cost to the tutor.
